Translator

Job purpose:

We are looking for a multilingual, experienced translator to translate text as well as conversations. The translator will be responsible for the accurate translation of documents and emails, as well as attending meetings in which live translations are needed.

To be successful as a translator you should be able to think quickly and have a firm understanding of the field in which you will be translating. An excellent translator should be able to translate information that is contextually accurate.

Role & responsibility:

1)-Read given material and research industry-specific terminology.

2)-Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others.

3)-Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone.

4)-Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations.

5)-Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation.

6)-Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.

7)-Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs.

8)-Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure).

9)-Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices.

10)-Provide accurate translations of texts.

11)-Attend meetings to translate discussions.

12)-Continually take language fluency assessments to certify fluency.

13)-Liaise with colleagues to ensure that translations are true to the original meaning.

1)-Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter, or similar role

2)-Fluency in at least two languages in addition to your native language

3)-Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors

4)-Good knowledge of content editing tools

5)-Familiarity with translation software

6)-Time-management skills

7)-Proof of language fluency.

8)-Must have prior experience doing translations.

9)-A high school qualification or equivalent.

10)-BSc in Translation, Interpreting, or similar field

11)-Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus
